Here are a couple pictures of my half marathon that took place on Saturday. To see more about my race, check out my training blog. My time this year was about 2 minutes faster than last year....at 1hr 58 minutes.
This year, Grayson got to participate in the kids 1/2 mile dash. As you can see from the first picture in the collage...he looks pretty happy. Well...that all changed quickly while we were waiting for the start. He didn't want me to put him down at all, and when I did he cried and cried. I kept trying to encourage him and make it fun and let him try to run it himself, but he was beside himself. I really thought he would enjoy this because he could run with mom and all the other kids. After the race all the kids got a finisher's medal....he was still so mad that he didn't want to even put it on. Later when he was telling Papa and Daddy and other family members about his race, he did eventually wear his medal. Hmm....blackmail pictures for the teenage years??
Here are some photos from today's 5K and 10K race. We had quite the showing in these races with Mariah, Alicia and Virinda doing the 5K, while Lee did the 10K race. Mariah placed 1st in her age group and Lee placed 3rd in his. This was Alicia's first race and she did very well. Virinda also did well...considering she says she isn't a runner! Good job you guys!

I loved looking at all these pictures, you guys don't look like you ever stop.
How do you change clothes between "events" in a triathlon? I've always kind of wondered. =)
Well, as far as clothes go...you wear triathlon type clothing---tri shorts (kind of like bike shorts but not much padding), then I wear a top that is tight with a sports bra type deal (long though). You wear this under your wetsuit. After the swim you run up to your transition area, take off wetsuit, kind of towel off a bit and put on socks and bike shoes. The clothes you have on will be wet. Then after the bike, you change into running shoes (these usually have the quick laces that you don't have to tie). If you don't have a race number belt, then you have to throw on another shirt that has your race number for the run. The whole thing is pretty easy really...& gives you time to breathe for a second.
You guys are rock-stars! Way to go!
I am really impressed Jessica, you guys are doing so well.
