Pacific Crest Sports Festival Weekend

This weekend was our 5th annual trip to the Pacific Crest Sports Festival in Sunriver, Oregon. We had more people join the normal crew (Brights, Browns and Boyles) so we were able to rent quite the house! The best ever! We had fantastic weather and enjoyed every minute of it. Thanks to our support crew of Amy and Kim! The following pictures are taken from the various events. I will hopefully have more to add later when I receive them from dad and the others. Obviously I have a little time to focus on uploading pictures and blogging since this is quite the post...plus I posted 2 other blogs as well today!

Here are a couple pictures of my half marathon that took place on Saturday. To see more about my race, check out my training blog. My time this year was about 2 minutes faster than last year....at 1hr 58 minutes.

This year, Grayson got to participate in the kids 1/2 mile dash. As you can see from the first picture in the collage...he looks pretty happy. Well...that all changed quickly while we were waiting for the start. He didn't want me to put him down at all, and when I did he cried and cried. I kept trying to encourage him and make it fun and let him try to run it himself, but he was beside himself. I really thought he would enjoy this because he could run with mom and all the other kids. After the race all the kids got a finisher's medal....he was still so mad that he didn't want to even put it on. Later when he was telling Papa and Daddy and other family members about his race, he did eventually wear his medal. Hmm....blackmail pictures for the teenage years??

Here are some photos from today's 5K and 10K race. We had quite the showing in these races with Mariah, Alicia and Virinda doing the 5K, while Lee did the 10K race. Mariah placed 1st in her age group and Lee placed 3rd in his. This was Alicia's first race and she did very well. Virinda also did well...considering she says she isn't a runner! Good job you guys!

These are photos from the Olympic Distance Triathlon that took place today...which happened to be a record setting day for heat. It was a scorcher! Heath and Greg each did the whole triathlon making this their first Olympic distance tri (1.5k Swim, 28mile bike, 10k run). They both did really well despite the heat and fatigue. The team of Ruthy (swim), dad (bike) and Jim (run) did the triathlon as a relay team. They also did quite well this year! We aren't sure on the outcome of everyone's times because the organizers were having issues with the swim times...but hopefully we will get to see them posted online tomorrow.

Ft. Lewis June Triathlon Photos

See what I did!?!?

The other day I let Grayson watch his photo montage (of himself) with music on the computer in our office. I walked outside to take the compost out for about 2 minutes. When I walked back in he came out from the office with this beautiful artwork on himself and says "mess". You'd think I would have learned my lesson since only 2 days prior he got into some other pens and decided to do some lovely artwork on the wall and closet door. This time it was permanent marker though! What a scary thing to have to walk into the office to assess the damage. It wasn't TOO bad...only a few marks on my bedspread and 2 long marks on the carpet. Even though it looks crazy on his body, it was pretty easy to get off with some isopropyl alcohol. The things toddlers do!

First Triathlon of the Season

This past Saturday, Heath and I both participated in our first triathlon of the season....this was a sprint distance tri consisting of a 1/2 mile swim, 15 mile bike, and 5k run. Despite the lack of training on the bike, I felt really good throughout the whole thing and did pretty well also. I ended up getting 1st in my age group....Heath got 3rd in his age group. I'm really looking forward to doing more this summer especially after I get some more miles on the bike.

This weekend we will be driving down to Sunriver, OR for our annual Pacific Crest Endurance weekend. We rented a huge house this time (because we have more people) and will leave a bit earlier also to stay at a great resort on the way down. I'm really looking forward (as we all are) to this event! I will be doing the 1/2 marathon on Saturday; Heath will do the Olympic Distance Triathlon on Sunday along with Greg and the team of Dad, Ruthy and Jim. Virinda, Alicia and Mariah will do the 5k on Sunday; Grayson will do the 1/2 mile kids run on Sunday and hopefully Lee will do the 1/2 with me.

Pictures from the Ft. Lewis Triathlon will be posted later when I receive them from our "team photographer" Greg.

Texas Trip

Here are a few shots from our recent trip to Texas to visit family. We were fairly busy visiting everyone and had a great time. We definitely loved the fact that we got to have sun everyday! I am SO missing that aspect now! It was fantastic to be able to go outside at night and enjoy the warm weather. Love it!

My new trike!

Grayson got a new tricycle for his birthday (from us). He hasn't quite figured out the whole pedaling thing....actually I don't think his legs are quite long enough either.

Yeah, so mom had to be a total dork and ride the tricycle a little bit so Grayson would figure out the concept. I think mom had a little more fun on it....especially downhill.
