Just us....

So, it was brought to my attention that it appears to some that I've been reading pregnancy books again.....according to my new Goodreads book list that I've added. So, I just want to clear things up before we get the grandparents excited or something! When you rate a book you've read on Goodreads, for some reason it says on there that these are books I've "recently read". I actually haven't read them in quite some time, I just remembered that I liked them and I thought I should rate them for others :) Anyway, I started thinking that I better point this out before people start to wonder (Thanks Cara) :)

Separation anxiety!

Today was my second attempt at taking Grayson to the daycare at the gym. The first time I was able to leave him there for about 50 minutes before he started having a breakdown. They gave him lots of animal crackers and basically had to hold him the whole time. Today....was a different story. I took him to find a cool truck and excavator to play with. As soon as I told him that I would see him later and gave him a kiss.....he had his little freakout (which involves his big time cry and guilt provoking looks). But, I trucked on to my destination of the pool. I should have went with my gut and just did some weights or cardio.....something that didn't require me to completely change and get wet, etc. But I really wanted to swim, dang it! Well, I got 6 laps in (a total of 3 1/2 minutes) before I called to check on him. "Well, he is fussing pretty good"......."ok, be there in just a bit". I didn't even have time to shower off and had to just put on my clothes, re-pull back my hair and off I go to save my child. Anyway, I've realized that I am going to have to suck it up with the long drive and try to get there more often; almost daily....if I want to be able to swim again! Obviously I won't go through the whole rig-a-ma-roll of going for a swim until he is at peace. This too shall pass! (right, Cailen?)

Veni, vidi, vici!

In other words...."I came, I saw, I conquered"! So I finally did my first triathlon....something that I have been wanting to do for several years. It was a sprint triathalon of 1/2 mile swim, 15 mile bike and 5k (3.1 mile) run. I figured that I wasn't getting any younger and the years kept passing....so I might as well just do it! Now...I am ready to do more. It was fun! Or....fun after the fact. My most nerve-racking event, the swim, ended up being my favorite. That could be because it was first and I had plenty of energy then....and no pain. The bike was a bit of a challenge because my feet were terribly numb, along with my shoulders, elbows, wrists and bootie (of course). I knew that it would be tough transitioning to the run....which it was. It took me a good mile to get my legs working somewhat normally. The exciting part of the run was when my lazy legs caused me to trip over a raised piece of sidewalk. I just couldn't catch myself....so, down I went into the dirt. I got up and realized I was still in one piece, so I went on. I ended up being quite a dirt ball! Despite my fall, I was happy with my times and I'm looking forward to breaking them at the next one.

By the way.....Greg also competed and knocked 4 minutes off of his previous time. I think we are both hooked now. Heath is next!
Thank you to our awesome support team of Heath, Grayson, Ruthy, Mariah, Virinda and Clayton. I even got some special harmonica playing as I finished up the race from our talented Aunt Ruthy!

I Love Quality H2O!

As you can see, Grayson loves to play with water....anywhere, anytime! Even though the water wand was turned off, there was still enough of a trickle to entertain him. He soaked himself in a matter of minutes.....so, off went the clothes (which he loves).

Life on the farm

Grayson got to take his friends, Sophia and Nicholas to the farm at the Ol' Homestead (aka Debbie and Gary's) today. He got to show them how to feed the sheep and chickens, raid the garden and numa-num's (blackberries & raspberries) and see the Harley's.

Feeding the sheep is one of Grayson's favorite things to do!

Trying a Gravenstein apple for the first time....he's loving it!

This is apparently the new way to smell a flower....or eat it?

Smell this mom!

For those of you who haven't witnessed Grayson's way of smelling flowers....here is a little idea of what he does. When you tell him to smell the flower he scrunches his nose up and breathes out. It is pretty entertaining! Here he is giving the pansy to me so I can smell it also.

Weekend at the beach!

This past Saturday we drove to Pacific Beach, WA for the annual clinic beach party. We camped over night in the motorhome....which was a good thing since it was drizzly that night. Another plus was that it was quieter than being on the beach....since there were some late night crazy dancers! Grayson enjoyed himself and took full advantage of the sand by getting it on almost every inch of his body....it even tasted pretty good! Despite the gray sky in some of the pictures we had pretty warm weather.....especially on Sunday.

As you can see here...Grayson's face is getting progressively more sandy!

That's some cold water!

Yum! This sandy stick is terrific!
